Underwear is the foundation for any successful outfit – an appreciation for Fashion must also extend to an appreciation for lingerie, and any fashionista should take as much care in curating their undies drawer as they do their wardrobe. This is why I was thrilled to get the chance to attend Cosmopolitan’s Lingerie Show as part of their series of FashFest events.
Upon arriving at a beautifully -lit One Marylebone on Monday, I was ushered up a sweeping staircase into the large showroom filled with excited Cosmo readers in their finery. Brands including B’Tempted, Pour Moi?, Freya, BrandAlley, Triumph, and Wonderbra were showcasing rails of the best of their latest collections, and I spoke to passionate and knowledgeable buyers about their favourite pieces (hint: Supertrash has been tipped as a sell-out for BrandAlley – you didn’t hear it from me) and new releases.
Expert fitters helped guests to find the right size for them (apparently two thirds of women in the UK wear the wrong one) and Coppafeel were celebrating the introduction of their new awareness label to lingerie brands with a photobooth, reminding the wearer of the importance of checking themselves, as beauty brands like Barry M primped and preened long lines of ladies with an array of their new products.
Then we got down to the serious matter of the Catwalk Show. We spilled into a ballroom dotted with mirrored tables and sat down to cocktails (Cosmopolitans – what else?!) as the models strutted through the lingerie trends according to Cosmopolitan, namely:
