If craft beer and sourdough pizza is your thing, then look no further. Heist Bank has been open for a year now with resounding success. Nestled in the middle of a road of industrial buildings behind Paddington station, this restaurant and bar is a reinvention of an unused commercial space in Paddington, but you’ll have to find it first.

They’ve kept the industrial chic vibe going with large air vents and pipes snaking along the ceiling broken up by hanging house plants. The place is packed most nights, mainly with 30-something professionals, all eager to try the 12 craft beers on tap, including the delicious home brewed Heist Bank lager, and the 48-hour fermented sourdough pizza.

The speciality when I visit is a pesto and mozzarella pizza base. Chewy and cheesy, its accompanied nicely by a side of garlic and chilli broccoli. If that doesn’t flick your switch, choose from a range of not-your-average-pizza toppings including:

  • Cheese curd
  • Garlic yoghurt and broccoli
  • Burford eggs
  • Potato (?!)

If you order a week ahead, you can attempt to eat your way through another Heist Bank speciality; the metre pizza.

Littering the crowds are pool and table football and a games room downstairs is available for private hire.

Recommended venue for a big group of mates…with curious taste buds.
