This week, we headed to the Barbican Art Gallery to check out its latest exhibition – Another Kind of Life: Photography on the Margins. With works from photographers such as Bruce Davidson and Daido Moriyama, this was a collection of striking, compelling and sometimes saddening images of those who exist on the margins of society.
By and far, our favourite collection was candid shots that had been collected from the life’s of those who spent their summers at Casa Susanna, a popular destination for transgender women in the 60s. These images depicted a diverse, complex and authentic view of the world; one that explored gender and sexuality – an issue that is still prevalent in today’s society.
